Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has appeared on film and television and on stage is best known for her role as Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show Showtime's Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. From the time she was a child, Nikki Kodjoe was a natural actor. Born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until 7 years old, Contractor was well-informed about the world and an array of civilizations at an extremely young age. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She was also a double major in Psychology and Sociology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having spent a year in university was invited to audition at an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. Her work was highly acclaimed in the 92 plays that she performed in. The play won her the award in 2002 for the most outstanding production of the Year by Canadian critics. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory. The school is a private institution that accepts just eight men and four woman to take a course in classical theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor's participation in the next season of plays was confirmed, and she was cast in the role of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
